Performed a diagnostic on a 10-year-old Goodman 3-ton system. Upon arrival, the indoor air handler was operating, but the outdoor condensing unit was not running. After troubleshooting, I found the contactor to be badly pitted and the dual capacitor completely failed, preventing proper system operation. I recommended replacement of the contactor and dual capacitor. The customer approved the repairs and also signed up for the Cool Club Membership. I replaced the defective contactor and dual capacitor and then tested the system operation. After repairs, the system started and operated normally. I checked system pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, compressor amperage, and condenser fan motor amperage. All readings were within normal operating range at this time. I also verified that the condensate drain system is draining properly. The system is currently cooling and operating as designed.
Performed a diagnostic on the Goodman system serving the main house. Upon arrival, I found the indoor blower motor operating, but the outdoor condensing unit was not running and was only humming. Further inspection revealed that the dual run capacitor had failed and was visibly exploded. I recommended replacing the failed capacitor. Customer approval was obtained by phone. The customer was on an airplane at the time of service and was unable to provide payment information. The invoice for the service call and capacitor replacement will be sent to the customer, and payment will be made when she is available. After replacing the dual capacitor, I tested system operation. The outdoor unit started and operated normally. I checked system pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, compressor amperage, condenser fan motor amperage, and blower motor amperage. All readings were within normal operating range at this time. The condensate drain was also checked and found to be drainin
Performed a diagnostic on a 3.5-ton Goodman system, approximately 7 years old. Customer stated the unit is not cooling properly. Checked system operation in cooling mode, including system pressures, subcooling, superheat, compressor amperage, condenser fan motor amperage, and temperature split. The system is operational and producing cooling; however, it is not performing efficiently due to airflow and maintenance-related issues. During the inspection, I found the condenser coil heavily impacted with dirt and debris, restricting heat transfer. The contactor is pitted and shows signs of wear. The capacitor is out of manufacturer tolerance and should be replaced. The blower wheel is heavily compacted with debris, reducing airflow through the system. The evaporator coil is severely impacted with dirt, lint, and microbial buildup, significantly restricting airflow and cooling performance. The air filter was extremely dirty and restrictive. Customer provided a new air filter, which was in
Performed diagnostic on a 3-ton Carrier system, approximately 22 years old, due to the system having difficulty maintaining the thermostat set temperature during normal operation. Checked system pressures, subcooling, superheat, and temperature split. Refrigerant charge and operating readings are currently within manufacturer specifications, and the system is cooling at this time. However, the overall condition of the equipment is significantly deteriorated and no longer meets manufacturer condition standards. During inspection, found the evaporator coil heavily compacted with debris and contamination. The condenser coil is also impacted with dirt and debris, restricting proper airflow and system efficiency. The blower wheel is heavily compacted with buildup, reducing airflow throughout the system. Recommended pulling and cleaning the blower wheel, cleaning the condenser coil, and cleaning or replacing the evaporator coil. Advised the customer that cleaning the evaporator coil is co
Performed comfort maintenance on the Payne system. Checked system pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, compressor amperage, condenser fan motor amperage, blower motor amperage, temperature split and inspected all electrical components, including the capacitor and contactor. During the inspection, I found the contactor is severely heat-damaged and should be replaced to prevent potential system failure. The capacitor tested out of tolerance and is also recommended for replacement. The system is currently operating in very poor condition and is running outside of the manufacturer’s specifications. The evaporator coil is heavily compacted with debris and shows significant corrosion throughout the coil and copper tubing. Due to the level of deterioration, I recommend replacing the evaporator coil. The blower wheel is heavily impacted with debris, bacterial growth, and corrosion. I recommend removing and cleaning the blower wheel to restore proper airflow and improve syste
Performed a diagnostic on a 3-ton Trane R-22 system, approximately 23 years old. Customer reported the breaker was tripping. Upon inspection of the outdoor condensing unit, I found the wiring at the contactor severely burned and damaged. Further testing revealed the compressor is shorted to ground and has failed. I then inspected the indoor air handler and found the blower motor is not operating. The blower wheel is heavily compacted with debris and microbial buildup, restricting airflow and contributing to system performance issues. Due to the failed compressor, inoperative blower motor, damaged wiring, and the overall age of the system, the unit is currently non-operational and down at this time. I provided repair options and contacted the office to create a lead for a new system replacement proposal. I spoke with Paul by phone, explained my findings, and discussed both repair and replacement options. Paul would like to receive proposals for both repairing the existing system and

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some frequently asked questions about our range of HVAC services. If yours isn’t mentioned, just get in touch with us and we’ll provide you with an answer as soon as possible.
It’s recommended to schedule HVAC maintenance at least once a year. For best performance, have your AC checked in the spring and your heating system serviced in the fall.
If your AC is over 10-15 years old, frequently breaks down, or struggles to cool your home efficiently, it may be time for a replacement. If the issue is minor and the unit is still in good condition, a repair might be the better option.
A sudden increase in energy costs can indicate an inefficient HVAC system. Dirty filters, leaky ducts, or an aging unit can cause your system to work harder, consuming more energy. Regular maintenance helps improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Change your air filter every 1-3 months, depending on usage, allergies, and pets. A clean filter improves airflow, helps maintain indoor air quality, and extends the life of your system.
During the summer, set your thermostat to 78°F when you’re home and higher when away. During the winter, keep it at 68°F for energy savings. A programmable or smart thermostat can help optimize comfort and efficiency.
With proper maintenance, most HVAC systems last 10-15 years. However, factors like usage, climate, and upkeep can impact their lifespan. Regular servicing helps extend their longevity.

Ductless AC systems are energy-efficient, easy to install, and provide zoned cooling for better temperature control. They’re a great option for homes without existing ductwork.
Regularly changing air filters, installing air purifiers, using a dehumidifier, and ensuring proper ventilation can significantly improve indoor air quality. We also offer professional air quality testing and filtration solutions.
Unusual sounds like banging, rattling, or screeching can signal issues such as loose components, motor problems, or airflow restrictions. If you hear anything unusual, it’s best to schedule an inspection before it leads to a bigger problem.
