Performed a diagnostic on a 4-ton Carrier package unit, approximately 10 years old, due to no cooling. Upon inspection, I found the system completely frozen. The compressor, evaporator coil, and copper lines were covered in a solid block of ice. I inspected the ductwork and found the 14-inch supply and return ducts severely kinked and crushed, causing a major airflow restriction. The air filter is also heavily compacted with debris and needs to be replaced. Due to the system being completely frozen, I was unable to complete a full system diagnosis at this time. After the system defrosts and proper airflow is restored, further testing will be needed to determine if there is a refrigerant leak or any other system issues. Performed a diagnostic on the downstairs unit Lennox 2017. Customer reported finding ice on the suction line. I checked the system temperature split and refrigerant pressures. The system is low on refrigerant, with a 32°F vapor saturation temperature, 401 PSI suction pressure, and a 12°F temperature split. I performed a complimentary leak search on the evaporator coil and found a refrigerant leak on the right rear side of the coil. I recorded a video of the leak and attached it to the service call. The air handler is from 2017. Based on the equipment warranty information, the evaporator coil may be covered under the Lennox parts warranty, subject to model, registration, and warranty verification. I provided the customer with a quote for evaporator coil replacement, and the customer approved the proposal. Performed a diagnostic on the Trane heat pump R-22. I was here yesterday, and the unit was cooling properly. Today, the system was operating in heat mode. I checked the O wire at the condenser and measured 26 volts. I also checked the voltage at the reversing valve solenoid and measured 26 volts. This indicates the reversing valve is stuck in the heating position and is not shifting into cooling. At this time, there is nothing further I can do to restore cooling operation. The unit is temporarily down until the customer decides how to proceed. The customer asked about the cost and availability of a replacement reversing valve. I explained that the part may need to be special ordered, and we need to check with Trane for availability. Depending on availability, the part could potentially take approximately 3–6 months to obtain. The customer also asked about replacement equipment options other than Daikin. Kenneth provided a Goodman system option and sent the proposal to the customer.

Performed a diagnostic on a 24-year-old HVAC system. Upon arrival, the thermostat was OFF. The customer stated the system had been running in heat mode the previous day and wanted the system checked because of its age. Turned the system on in cooling mode and verified operation. Checked system pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, compressor amps, condenser fan motor amps, blower motor amps, capacitor, and overall system operation. The capacitor tested within tolerance. The system is cooling and draining properly at this time. Findings: * Contactor is pitted and should be replaced. * Condenser coil is contaminated with debris and needs cleaning. * Evaporator coil is badly rusted. * Blower wheel is dirty and should be removed and cleaned. * Drain pan and drain line have corrosion, algae, and debris buildup. * Refrigerant charge is slightly low. * Performed a complimentary leak search and detected a very small leak at the evaporator coil, with readings between 60–100 pp

Arctic Maintenance Agreement – Summer Tune-Up Customer signed up for the Arctic Maintenance Agreement, and today I performed the summer tune-up and system checkup. I checked the system operation, including temperature split and air filter condition. The air filter was recently replaced. The system is currently operating with a 19°F temperature split, which is within the expected range. I cleaned and flushed the condensate drain line and drain pan and added Viper drain treatment to help maintain proper drainage and reduce buildup. During the visual inspection, I found the following conditions: * The condenser contactor is badly pitted and should be replaced. * The evaporator coil is heavily compacted with debris and bacterial buildup. I recommend pulling the evaporator coil out for a thorough cleaning. * No UV light is currently installed. A UV light installation is highly recommended to help control microbial growth inside the air handler and around the evaporator coil. At this t
