Capacitor tested out of tolerance; recommend replacement. Recommend installation of a UV light for the indoor unit and surge protection for both the indoor and outdoor units. System is running properly at this time. Downstairs unit: System is operating properly at this time. Recommend installation of a UV light for the indoor unit and surge protection for both the indoor and outdoor units. Also recommend replacing filters for both systems.
Diagnostic on a 2023 Goodman straight cool system. Upon arrival, the thermostat was set to 70°F and satisfied; a portable heater was located beneath the thermostat, affecting the temperature reading. Called for heat and checked system operation. Heat kit was receiving proper voltage and drawing 20 amps, indicating normal operation. Temperature split measured approximately -10°F. The system is equipped with a 5 kW heat kit, which is likely undersized for current outdoor conditions and unable to maintain setpoint. Recommend 10kw heat kit installation with new breaker.
