Frequently Asked Questions
Below, you’ll find some frequently asked questions about our range of services in Davenport.
Regular maintenance is key to keeping your AC running efficiently. We recommend scheduling a professional inspection at least once per year to catch potential issues early. This helps your system operate at peak performance, reduces energy consumption, and extends the unit’s lifespan.
Ductless air conditioning provides a flexible cooling solution, especially for homes without existing ductwork. These systems allow for customized temperature control in different rooms, improving energy efficiency and comfort. Their sleek design and quiet operation make them a popular alternative to traditional HVAC systems.
Maintaining good indoor air quality involves several steps. Keeping your HVAC system clean and replacing filters regularly can help reduce dust and allergens. Installing air purifiers or using UV air sanitizers can further eliminate airborne contaminants, creating a fresher and healthier environment.
Choosing the right furnace involves selecting a unit that matches your home’s heating needs. A properly sized and energy-efficient system will provide reliable warmth while keeping utility costs in check. Professional installation ensures safe operation and compliance with local building codes.
If you experience weak airflow, temperature inconsistencies, or a sudden rise in energy bills, your ductwork might be the culprit. Damaged or outdated ducts can allow air leaks, making your HVAC system work harder than necessary. A professional assessment can determine if repairs or a full replacement would improve efficiency and indoor comfort.
A pool heater lets you enjoy swimming in comfortable water temperatures year-round. It extends your pool’s usability beyond summer, allowing for more relaxation and entertainment options. With gas and electric models available, you can select an option that best suits your home’s energy needs and budget.
Excess moisture in the air can make your home feel damp, encourage mold growth, and create an uncomfortable living environment. A dehumidifier removes excess humidity, helping to maintain balanced indoor air conditions. This not only enhances comfort but also protects your home from moisture-related damage.
If your home has poor airflow, strange noises coming from your system, or uneven cooling and heating, your air handler might need attention. An inefficient air handler can reduce your HVAC system’s overall performance and increase energy costs. Professional repair or replacement can restore airflow and improve home comfort.
Indoor air quality testing helps identify harmful pollutants like dust, mold, and allergens that could be affecting your health. Poor air quality can lead to allergy symptoms, respiratory issues, and general discomfort. A professional assessment can determine the best solutions to improve your home’s air, such as advanced filtration systems or better ventilation.

Performed a safety float switch installation and tested its operation. Verified the system is functioning properly after installation. Checked refrigerant pressures and temperature split, and both are within normal operating range. The safety float switch is operating correctly and providing proper condensate overflow protection at this time. The system is cooling normally and operating within manufacturer specifications.
Performed a diagnostic on an 8-year-old Carrier 3.5-ton system after the customer reported a clogged condensate drain. The customer had already vacuumed the drain line prior to my arrival, allowing the system to resume operation. During my inspection, I found bacterial algae growth in the condensate drain pan. I cleaned and brushed the drain pan, treated it with Viper condensate treatment, and flushed the condensate drain with three gallons of hot water. After cleaning, I tested the drain and confirmed it was draining properly. I performed a complete system inspection and checked refrigerant pressures. The system was below the manufacturer’s specified refrigerant charge. I completed a thorough electronic leak search of the evaporator coil and found no detectable refrigerant leaks. I adjusted the refrigerant charge by adding 2 pounds of R-410A, bringing the system back within the manufacturer’s operating specifications. During the inspection, I also found that the back side of the ev
Performed a diagnostic and found the condensate drain line was clogged, causing the safety float switch to trip and shut the system down. I explained to the customer that this was a maintenance-related issue and is not covered under the one-year labor warranty from the new system installation. I offered the customer a Polar Maintenance Agreement, and the customer accepted enrollment. I then performed the initial preventive maintenance service. The following maintenance procedures were completed: * Cleaned the condensate drain line using a drain snake. * Thoroughly flushed the drain line until the water ran clear, removing a significant amount of algae and bacterial buildup. * Cleaned the condensate drain pan. * Applied Viper drain treatment. * Verified system operation in cooling mode. * Checked system operating pressures, subcooling, superheat, and temperature split. * Measured compressor, condenser fan motor, and blower motor amperage. During the maintenance inspection, I found t
Performed a diagnostic on an 8-year-old Goodman 4-ton package unit. Upon arrival, the system was completely inoperative. I checked the incoming voltage and found 0 volts at the unit. I then inspected the disconnect breaker. When I touched the breaker, I heard it click, indicating a poor connection. After removing the breaker, I found it was not making proper contact with the back bus of the panel. I applied dielectric grease to the breaker contacts, reinstalled it, and restored power. The system started and operated normally. Once the unit was running, I performed a complete operational inspection, including checking system pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, compressor amperage, condenser fan motor amperage, and blower motor amperage. All readings were within manufacturer specifications, and the system is operating normally at this time. I discussed the benefits of our Club Membership maintenance agreement with the customer, and the customer enrolled in the Cub Club
Performed an Arctic preventive maintenance on the system. Upon inspection, I found the condensate drain line and drain pan to be extremely clogged. It was necessary to use a drain snake and drain solvent multiple times to completely clear the blockage. After restoring proper drainage, I completed a full system inspection. I checked the system operating pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, compressor amperage, condenser fan motor amperage, and blower motor amperage. I also inspected the capacitor and contactor. The capacitor tested out of tolerance and should be replaced. The contactor is operating properly at this time. I treated the condensate drain pan and drain line with Viper treatment to help prevent future algae and sludge buildup. I also found that the UV light inside the air handler is not operating. I recommended sanitizing the air handler cabinet and installing a new UV light to help prevent future bacterial growth and improve indoor air quality. I tested t
Performed a diagnostic on the Rheem pool heat pump. Upon inspection, I found the system had only 3 PSI of refrigerant, indicating a major refrigerant leak. I performed a complementary leak search and found the filter drier to be heavily corroded and leaking refrigerant. I also inspected the electrical components and found the capacitor is out of tolerance and the contactor is severely pitted, both of which should be replaced to ensure reliable system operation. I provided the customer with an estimate for the necessary repairs. The customer also requested a proposal for a new replacement pool heat pump for comparison. At this time, the unit is not operational and will not provide pool heating until the customer decides whether to proceed with the recommended repairs or replace the system.
Performed a preventive maintenance and checked system operation in cooling mode. Verified system pressures, subcooling, superheat, temperature split, static pressure, compressor amperage, condenser fan motor amperage, and capacitor. Cleaned the condensate drain line and drain pan, added Viper treatment, and rinsed the condenser coil. During the inspection, I found the condenser coil is dirty and would benefit from a chemical coil cleaning to restore proper airflow and efficiency. I also found the evaporator coil is restricted within the coil fins, causing the supply air to become excessively cold. The measured temperature split between the return and supply air is 24.4°F, and the blower is currently set to medium speed. I recommend pulling and cleaning the evaporator coil to restore proper airflow and system performance. No signs of bacterial or microbial growth were found inside the air handler cabinet at this time. However, I recommended installing a UV light to help keep the evapo
Replaced the Honeywell zone damper motor, adjusted the actuator, and tested system operation. Verified that the damper now opens and closes properly on a call for heating and cooling. The zone damper is operating normally at this time.
Customer approved the proposed installation; however, the job was canceled prior to work beginning. At the time of cancellation, equipment and materials had already been ordered and picked up, and the mechanical permit had already been pulled with the city. This invoice reflects a $249.00 charge to cover those costs and the administrative time associated with processing the cancellation. We appreciate the customer's understanding and are happy to assist with any future projects.
Performed a diagnostic on the Honeywell zone damper system. The customer reported that the downstairs zone was not blowing any air when calling for cooling. Inspected the zone dampers in the attic and found the downstairs Honeywell M847D damper motor stuck in the closed position, preventing airflow to the downstairs zone. I was able to manually free the damper and restore temporary operation. The customer stated this issue has occurred before, but this time the damper remained stuck for an extended period. Based on the diagnosis, the damper motor is failing and should be replaced to prevent future loss of airflow. The customer approved the repair. Order one Honeywell M847D zone damper motor and, once the part is received, contact the customer to schedule the replacement. Also recommended the Arctic Maintenance Agreement and Cub Club Membership to help keep the system operating efficiently, reduce the likelihood of future breakdowns, and provide discounts on repairs and maintenance serv
